Понятие А. н. применяется в анализе производства, в анализе спроса и потребления. Например, при определении оптимального плана предприятия важно, чтобы весь ассортимент его продукции, а не отдельные ее виды соответствовали потребностям (директивному заданию, рыночному спросу и т.п.). Существует класс задач линейного программирования, в которых критерием оптимальности является максимальное количество ассортиментных наборов, включающих разные виды продукции в пропорции, заданной планом («ассортиментные задачи«). На рис. к статье «Кривые безразличия» показываются соотношения между набором x1, y3, наборами x2, y2; а также x3, y1 и т.д. Математически А.н. описывается вектором, компоненты которого — количество благ каждого вида («вектор благ«): x = (x1, x2, …, xj, …, xn), где n — число наличных видов товаров, xj — количество блага j-го вида (j=1, 2, …, n).
